Free Stuff

During my years of generating content, there are a few seminal pieces and some other extras that I wanted to share with the fans of Dragonlaird Gaming. These are all free to download though I’d love it if you also checked out some of my products on DriveThruRPG.

All I Really Need to Know I Learned from Firefly

The first article I ever had published was inspired by the TV show Firefly which I’d fallen in love with. There was so much about it that felt like a gaming group in an RPG campaign. This article was a precursor to my Gaming the Movies column in Knights of the Dinner Table magazine where I examine different movies and TV shows to see how you would run a TTRPG game that felt like you were playing that property.

This article also opened doors for me as a freelance RPG writer. The team at Margaret Weis Productions read my article and invited me to be a co-author on the Serenity RPG core book. This article really started it all for me. I hope you enjoy!

Gaming the Movies Extras

My Gaming the Movies columns take on a movie, TV show, or even a comic book and try to discern what makes it unique, what you should do if you want to run a TTRPG game set in that property. This is rarely about mechanical rules and much more about the narrative setting, the dramatic arcs, and the flavor.

Sometimes I’ll complete an article for my Gaming the Movies column but later come up with additional information or have material that wouldn’t fit in the original column.  Here you can download that additional information to improve a game in these properties.

A New Adventure Haven Temple

In 2010, I wrote (and Bards & Sages published) “Adventure Havens: Temples”: a collection of twelve temple-themed, adventure settings for Dungeons & Dragons v3.5. To give you a flavor of that product, I wrote a 13th temple setting which you can get here for free.
