In the fall of 2008, I began writing a monthly column for Knights of the Dinner Table called Gaming the Movies. The premise was to take a movie and distill the key elements out of it that would let you play it as an RPG. What are the themes, the aspects of genres, the touchstones that would make a game of that movie feel like the movie.
I’d started this concept in a couple solo articles, beginning with the “All I Really Need to Know I Learned from Firefly” in issue #100 where I examined the short-lived cult hit Firefly, and “So You Want to Play Heroes” in issue #136 where I distilled the essence of the Heroes TV show.
In support of the column, I’m going to be providing additional information to expand some of the topics.
